Regent - resistant variety


This is a fungus resistant new variety made by the Institute for Grapevine Breeding Geilweilerhof of the Julius-Kühn Institute in Germany.

Cross:   Diana (Silvaner x Müller-Thurgau) x Chambourcin

Requirements to the vineyard site:

The requirements to the site are quite low, they are similar to them of Müller Thurgau.


Regent was the first fungus resistant variety which was planted on an remarkable space. In 2007 in Germany already 2.000 ha were planted. The dark colour and the fruity type of wine are good characteristics of this variety.

There are already plantings in many countries of Europe.


Regent is a fungus resistant variety which needs only about 2-3 sprayings against fungus a year.
